In class today we will be reviewing for Torah Trope Challenge – practicing the blessings before and after Torah and how to chant the trope clauses of the V’ahavta. Torah Trope Challenge was originally scheduled for next Wednesday, 1/19. As we may be online next week, I have created the Torah Trope Challenge to be completed online via FlipGrid. If we should be in person, then the students can chant for me live, or online.

The Torah Reading for the First Day of Rosh Hashanah

Our 6th grade learners have worked so hard to acquire all the elements of chanting Torah! On Wednesday, January 19th during Hebrew school, students will be assessed with the annual Torah Trope Challenge. Successful completion of these skills will indicate that the class is ready to complete our Torah Trope unit and move on to the second and final unit, Haftarah. Students will:

1. Chant the V’ahavta prayer using the appropriate trope names and melodies (click on the V’ahavta link for a copy of the pdf)
