Haftarah Trope Challenge

Welcome back from Spring Break.  During Hebrew today, we completed learning the 5th clause, R’vi-i.  We only have one more clause left and a few oddball tropes, and we will have finished our unit in Haftarah.  I also announced today the dates and content of the Haftarah Trope Challenge.  The HTC will assess the student’s knowledge and make sure that each is prepared for their one-on-one lessons to begin with Shari.  Here are the details:

Haftarah Trope Challenge – Sunday, May 7 and Wednesday, May 10
1. Chant the Blessing Before Haftarah in Hebrew
2. Chant the Blessing After Haftarah in Hebrew
3. Chant either verses 7-8 or 12-13 of their Haftarah example in TROPE (Judges 4:4-18)

There are many resources to help your student achieve success in this Trope Challenge.  Recordings of the Blessings for Haftarah can be found here, and audio examples of Haftarah Trope can be found here.  The Trope Page also contains a musical notation of the Blessing After Haftarah, musical notations of all of the Haftarah trope, the Blessings with transliteration, additional audio recordings and more.

We have spent a significant amount of class time working on the trope and blessings.  Your student should practice for at least 10 minutes a day to help them feel confident in their understanding.
